Same core idea as GeoGuessr: you study a street-level view, read the clues, and guess your location on the world map. The difference is the price and the friction. GeoGuessr now limits free play and puts unlimited rounds behind a paid subscription. Pin Drop is free with unlimited rounds because it runs on open, crowdsourced Mapillary imagery rather than paid Google Street View. What GeoGuessr still has that Pin Drop does not: ranked competitive ladders and the largest curated pool of locations. How to play

  • You are dropped at a random spot. Look around the street view for clues: signs, road markings, vegetation, which side of the road people drive on.
  • Drop your pin on the world map where you think you are.
  • Score on how close your guess lands. The nearer the pin, the more points.
  • Go solo against your own best score, or start a room and race everyone else.

Play with friends or coworkers

Start a room, share the link in Slack or Teams, and up to 15 people race the same locations live. No one needs an account and there is nothing to install. It runs in the browser, with a polling fallback so it still works on locked-down corporate networks.
