What is Daily Word?

Daily Word is an online five-letter word puzzle you play right in the browser — a Wordle-style guessing game with nothing to install. Each day there is one hidden word and six guesses to find it, and after every guess the tiles colour in to show how close you were. Everyone gets the same word that day, so it is easy to compare with coworkers between meetings.

How to play

  1. Guess the hidden five-letter word in six tries.
  2. Amber — right letter, right spot.
  3. Muted amber — right letter, wrong spot.
  4. Dark — the letter is not in the word.
  5. Use the clues to narrow down the answer before your guesses run out.
  6. Everyone gets the same word each day — a new one at midnight, your time.

Tips

  • Open with a word packed with common letters to light up the board fast.
  • Lock in the letters you have found, then shuffle the rest into new spots.
  • Do not waste a guess on letters you have already ruled out.
